5th Feb 06 - My birthday weekend began with my graduation as a yoga teacher alongside fellow yogini Kerry on a Friday evening!
From there, an overnight stay and hotel breakfast in Perth and Rob and I headed north to Cervantes! Our journey along the straight banksia lined roads would have been dull if it wasn't for rob's pressie of a portable DVD.

We set up camp in Cervantes caravan park and fired up the vegie barbq.
The next morning (my birthday) before sunrise we awoke and drove a cautious kangaroo wary half hour to the pinnacles. We were the only ones there (besides the flies which awoke with the sun!) so it was peaceful, still and quiet. The pinnacles themselves are so unusual, jutting out of the sand in select places.... some delicate, some strong.
Another amazing formation close by - stromatilites! These babies are meant to be the oldest living organisms on the earth....or something like that. It just looks like slimy rocks but they are some kind of algae/ bacteria symbyosis or some such thing....
From here we headed back south to the most beautiful beach I have ever been to - Yancep! It is kinda like a lagoon because it is encased by a reef, which you can swim out to. Unfortunately, we were enjoying it so much that I didn't take any pics.
That night we stayed in a small caravan park on the beach in Two Rock where I picked up three little hitch hikers (pepper ticks!) that I didn't notice until two days later (they look like freckles). There was one on each side of my groin and one under my right breast!!!
The next morning we battled the Perth traffic into the city from the north and breakfasted at Miss Mauds - yum! - pancakes with cream and berries, beans and toast, fruit and as much coffee as I could handle. A great ending to a great trip!
